Earlier today Aesop unleashed www.imtryingtohelp.com. Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings received the MTV spotlight this week as the channel ran back-to-back news features on the band and their Daptone Records headquarters. The band, which has been causing a stir with their upcoming third full length, 100 Days, 100 Nights, sat down with the MTV cameras to discuss the Dap-Kings’ recent stint as British soul singer Amy Winehouse’s backing band and their own path to success. MTV also filmed a grand tour through Daptone Records headquarters in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. The analog Daptone studio has become a destination for artists seeking the signature soul and funk sound reminiscent of the days before slick studio techniques.
